Project Description

Endodontics is a dental treatment that aims to save a tooth that has damaged internal tissue. When the teeth show deep damage they are considered diseased or dead but sometimes that does not mean that it is necessary to extract them. The dental pulp is the tissue that is found in the deepest part of the tooth and that connects it with the maxillary bone, it contains the nerve and blood vessels. There are several factors that can affect the dental pulp. The most common is that the cavities become deep, damaging the pulp of the tooth. A fracture or trauma can also damage the inside of a tooth.
WHAT DOES ENDODONTICS CONSIST OF?
Endodontics consists of cleaning the pulp tissue of the tooth to extract what is damaged and then fill it with a biocompatible material and seal it. Subsequently, the tooth is reconstructed to recover its natural appearance. In this way the tooth works again without presenting discomfort when eating or speaking.
Some signs that may indicate that a root canal is necessary are:
- Discomfort such as tenderness or pain when chewing
Tooth that changes color or darkens
Bad taste in the mouth due to an infection
With this intervention you can avoid the extraction of teeth while maintaining their functionality and aesthetics. Usually only one session is necessary but sometimes a second session or more may be required.
